Oooo that’s a touchy word, isn’t it? Nobody wants to be manipulated. Or called manipulative. Wow that word looks so wierd once it’s been written that many times in a row
So what’s my point in bringing it up then, if it’s such a sensitive subject? Cause it needs to be brought up! Too many people have gotten soooo complacent, content with everything being easy, not having to answer for anything because nobody will challange anything or anyone!? Well that’s no fun. I guess there’s plenty of topics to be discussed given the depraved state of society today. Women especially are accused of this unfortunate character trait.
Women, and females in general, learn to play off of others emotions, to dramatize, to act, to push for what they want until they get it. Now this isn’t neccesarily a bad thing, sometimes a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. But it becomes a bad thing when we use this for nefarious purposes to a negative end. Being convincing isn’t bad. Being conniving is. The difference lies in your motivation for changing someone’s mind. Your reason for doing what you do. That’s what makes so many things “wrong” or “right” and as we all know anyone can do the wrong thing for the right reasons (and still be wrong) or the right thing for the wrong reasons (and still be right or wrong)
One thing that makes it so hard to break free of the stereotype of being manipulative is the fact that it comes so easy especially to girls. It’s a struggle. We all have things we deal with personally, most girls deal with manipulation. Whether or not they adress it is up to them, but their boyfriends would certainly appreciate it if they were less negative in what they’re trying to do. A sly, deceptive manipulation is not a good thing………am I repeating myself here??
It’s important that as people in general we don’t become so caught up in getting our own way, getting what we want, when we want it – that we close in on that goal and that only, forgetting everyone and everything else around us. It’s alright to be focused, or one-track-minded, as long as it’s conducive to our lives and doesn’t affect us negatively. Focusing on a project or school for instance is a very good thing. Focusing all one’s energy on getting your dad to buy you a car for your birthday is not. There are much more important things in the world, which is something that many people forget and is a main factor in manipulation – you will do and say anything to get what you want.
This is one of my goals personally. Obtain what I want honestly. Straightforward. Earn it. No cheating. And no manipulation.
